Announcement: Euripides’ tragedy “Medea” will be presented for the first time in 40 years on the stage of the Roman Theater in Plovdiv. The performance will be played only once, just like in the ancient times. Although awarded third place in the drama competitions in Athens in 431 BC, this Euripides’ play remains in the history of world art as one of the most provocative tragedies. Can Medea take revenge on her unfaithful husband Jason? Is he guilty? Is she guilty?
The audience will have the opportunity to become involved in a true theatrical spectacle involving more than 40 actors, musicians and children. Medea, the granddaughter of Helios, the Sun God, will once again provoke the boundaries of human nature. The tragedy will begin with the last rays of sunshine and will be played in the darkness of the summer night.
